Frank Caronna
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I hope to get the chance to take your surfing to a new level.

My name is Frank Caronna and grew up surfing in Huntington Beach. I have been surfing since 1979 and started teaching private surf lessons in 1989. I moved to Santa Monica in 2000 to continue teaching private surf lessons and build my career. I surfed professionally on the U.S. pro tour from 1990- 1998. I began teaching surfing on my time off and founded Natural Surf Technique in 1998 to help beginners to advance students better their skills and help them develop better style, skills and ocean awareness. I have been teaching private surf lessons for 22 years as I feel this is the safest, best and proper way to learn the art of surfing. I teach all levels from beginner surf lessons, intermediate surf lessons and advanced surf lessons. I work very hard to see that everyone who takes lessons with me get what they pay for, which also includes consulting to help you choose the proper equipment so that you continue improving and evolving as a surfer.  I also provide surf coaching for up coming talents who are looking to compete and get better results and have worked with many sponsored surfers.

I grew up in a competitive neighborhood and learned and played most sports at a very young age, but nothing compared or intrigued me more than the ocean and the art of surfing.    I was fortunate at a young age to have the chance to spend most summers deep sea fishing with my father in Catalina and Mexico.  Spending so much time on the ocean at an early age taught me how to read swells, develope balance and anticipate the changing ocean conditions. All of these things contributed to developing instincts, quick timing and better hand/eye coordination which are critical to surfing and help me do a better job at teaching.

I started surfing at the age of 11 and began competing at 14. I did very well in most local events and then decided to compete in the National Scholastic Surfing Asoociation. The NSSA was very competitive and would be great training grounds for a professional career ahead.   I continued surfing in these events till I was 20 and with some great showings in the Nationals I decided to turn professional. I competed 8 years as a professional and had an average career due to a few bad injuries to my knee and ankle, which made it even more difficult to compete at the level needed and eventually dropped off the tour. I then started focusing more on what I was best at, teaching surfing. Its been over 20 years since I taught my first lesson and I love teaching even more today.

I work very hard at my job and have become one of the best in my field. In hiring me, you will get nothing but the best from safety, ocean knowledge and the best technique available. My job consist of coaching up and coming talents right down to beginners on how to get their surfing to the next level safely and more quickly.   I also provide consulting for movies and TV shows.

I hope I get a chance to work with you.

Sincerely,

Frank
